Trusted Log Delivery Image

Family-Run and Community-Rooted

Based in the Ribble Valley, Kiln Dried Logs UK is part of a family-run group that includes Longsight Home & Garden. Their deep local ties mean they understand the needs of Lancashire households and businesses—from rural homes to local pubs, schools, and restaurants.

Premium Quality, No Compromises

Unlike suppliers who rush the drying process, Kiln Dried Logs UK uses a meticulous kiln setup:

  • Logs are loose-stacked with 20–30 cm spacing for optimal airflow

  • Kilns run at 90–100°C, with vacuum moisture extraction

  • Long-wire sensors monitor moisture content throughout

  • Logs are cooled for 2–3 days before packing to prevent condensation

This results in consistently dry, clean-burning hardwood logs that outperform damp or poorly processed alternatives.

Fast, Flexible Delivery

They offer flexible delivery times across Lancashire, tailored to customer schedules. Whether you're stocking up for winter or prepping for a garden event, orders are handled with care and speed.

Honest Advice and Friendly Service

The team prides itself on being approachable and knowledgeable. They offer practical advice on stove performance, log selection, and fire-building techniques—helping customers get the most out of their fuel.

Sustainability and Trade Support

  • Logs are FSC-certified and Woodsure-approved

  • Trade pricing available for businesses, schools, and hospitality

  • Commitment to sourcing only high-quality wood, avoiding low-grade imports

Frequently Asked Questions About Firewood

1. What’s the difference between kiln dried and seasoned logs?

Kiln dried logs are dried in controlled conditions to below 20% moisture, making them cleaner-burning and more efficient than traditionally seasoned logs.

2. Which wood species are best for burning?

Hardwoods like ash, birch, oak, and beech burn hotter and longer. Softwoods ignite easily but burn faster—better for kindling or mild heat.

3. How dry should firewood be?

According to Defra’s Ready to Burn standard, firewood should have less than 20% moisture. Kiln dried logs often go below 10% for optimal performance.

4. Can I store kiln dried logs outside?

Yes, as long as they’re covered and ventilated. A log store or shed works well to prevent damp and mould.

5. How much firewood do I need for winter?

  • Light use: ~1–1.5m³

  • Moderate use: ~2–3m³

  • Heavy use: ~4–6m³

Bulk buying often offers better value.

6. Are kiln dried logs eco-friendly?

Yes—especially when sustainably sourced. They burn more efficiently, reducing emissions and creosote buildup.

7. Can I burn firewood in a pizza oven or BBQ hut?

Absolutely. Kiln dried hardwoods like oak and beech are ideal for high-heat cooking applications.

8. What’s the best way to start a fire with logs?

Use kiln dried kindling and firelighters in a top-down method for clean ignition and airflow.

Winter Firewood Guide for UK Homes

1. Choosing the Right Logs

  • Hardwoods like ash, oak, and beech burn hotter and longer—ideal for cold UK nights.

  • Kiln dried logs are best: low moisture, high efficiency, and Ready to Burn certified.

  • Avoid softwoods for primary heating—they burn fast and produce more creosote.

2. How Much Firewood Do You Need?

  • Light use (2–3 fires/week): ~1–1.5 cubic meters per season.

  • Moderate use (daily evening fires): ~2–3 cubic meters.

  • Heavy use (primary heat source): ~4–6 cubic meters.

3. Storage Tips

  • Keep logs off the ground and covered, but allow airflow.

  • Use a log store or ventilated shed to prevent damp and mould.

  • Stack loosely to promote drying and easy access.

4. Burning Efficiently

  • Use small kindling and firelighters to start cleanly.

  • Burn at high temperatures to reduce smoke and residue.

  • Don’t overload the stove—steady burns are more efficient.

5. When to Buy

  • Order early (late summer to autumn) to avoid peak-season price hikes.

  • Look for bulk deals or seasonal bundles like Winter Warmers or Pizza Oven Packs.

Here at Kiln Dried Logs UK we sell 40L Bags of kiln dried firewood not 30L or 20L. Photos are often deceiving, so please check before you buy. Get the best value for your money.

Key Benefits:

More Value for Money

  • Lower cost per litre: Larger bags often reduce packaging and handling overheads, meaning you get more firewood for less.

  • Fewer deliveries needed: More fuel per bag means less frequent ordering, saving on delivery costs and logistics.

Longer Burn Time

  • Ideal for homes with regular log stove usage, pizza ovens, or chimineas.

  • Reduces the risk of running out mid-season — especially during colder months.

Efficient Storage & Packaging

  • Stacked smartly for airflow: Kiln Dried Logs UK ensures that larger bags maintain proper drying and breathability.

  • Eco-friendly packaging: Less plastic or material waste compared to buying multiple smaller bags.

Convenience for Larger Households or Businesses

  • Perfect for high-demand scenarios like pubs with log burners, glamping sites, or frequent entertainers.

  • One 40L bag takes up less space than two 20L bags stacked separately — making storage more efficient.

Sustainability in Bulk

  • Fewer trips, less packaging, and more logs per unit contribute to reduced carbon footprint.

  • Matches well with Kiln Dried Logs UK's eco-driven ethos — combining clean burn with conscious logistics.

September 2023 - Delivery Instructions For Pallet Deliveries

  • For those that aren't in our local area, Deliveries are made using a pallet courier service. This service is charged at a flat rate of £40 per pallet for most of the UK, except for certain postcodes which will require surcharges.

  • These deliveries will be made in an 18 tonne wagon with a tail lift and will be kerbside only. It is at the discretion of the delivery driver as to whether they can take the pallet any further but we can not guarantee this.

  • Before placing your order please ensure you have access to your house for a 18 tonne wagon and let us know of any restrictions. The driver has the right to cancel the delivery if they deem it unsafe such as, not being able to park and unload in a safe spot. The pallet can not be unloaded on steep inclines/declines as the pallet could topple over. The pallet can not manoeuvre over soft or uneven ground such as, soil, grass, gravel, cobbles etc. If delivery is unable to be made due to something we weren't made aware of extra charges could be applied.

  • Our chosen courier will ring you once they receive your items to book in a day for delivery. In circumstances where they haven't made it round to your delivery on the arranged day, they will call to re arrange.

  • The customer is responsible for unpacking and getting rid of any packaging such as shrink wrap, crates and wooden pallets.

  • If the customer is not in when the pallet company tries to deliver, a re-delivery will be organised and the customer will be responsible for this charge.

  • All deliveries will be made between 8am and 6pm.

  • For any queries regarding delivery please ring on 01254 247075 or email on [email protected]
